This checklist applies web server and PHP updates managed through DirectAdmin. These updates are performed after DirectAdmin and CustomBuild updates and before operating system package updates.
When to run this checklist
- As part of routine maintenance
- After completing DirectAdmin and CustomBuild updates
- When web server or PHP updates are available
Pre‑update checks
- Confirm prerequisite updates are complete
- DirectAdmin updates have finished successfully
- CustomBuild updates have completed without errors
- Confirm stable access
- Verify SSH access is available
- Confirm the DirectAdmin control panel loads normally
- Confirm no conflicting operations
- No backups currently running
- No package managers active
- No long‑running administrative tasks in progress
Apply web server updates
- Log in to the DirectAdmin control panel as
admin. - Navigate to Server Manager → CustomBuild.
- Review the configured web server, e.g., OpenLiteSpeed, and related components.
- Apply available web server updates using the provided update controls.
- Remain on the page while updates are running.
Apply PHP updates
- From Server Manager → CustomBuild, review available PHP updates.
- Apply updates for installed PHP versions.
- If multiple PHP versions are in use, repeat updates for each version.
- Allow services to restart as part of the update process.
Do not interrupt the update process. Progress messages may remain visible until updates complete.
Confirm update completion
- Open the Messages section in DirectAdmin.
- Confirm messages indicating web server and PHP updates have completed.
- Ignore transient service restart messages unless they persist.
Operational notes
- Web server and PHP updates are applied after DirectAdmin and CustomBuild updates.
- Updates may restart web and PHP services briefly.
- Some environments may recommend a reboot, but this is conditional.
