Applying DirectAdmin Version Updates

  • Important: It’s best to ensure you have created either a snapshot or a full backup of the server before implementing this update.
  • Logon to DirectAdmin as ‘admin’.
  • From DirectAdmin Control Panel | ADMIN
  • Go to <Support> | <Updates>.
  • On right pane, decide and select the “Update Channel“.
    • Current: latest “released” build version
      • Operational note: This is often consider a reasonably safe version and is based on DirectAdmin’s internal testing to verify a safe release.
    • Stable: the previous released build version (1 version older than the latest released version)
      • Operational note: This is typically the safest version to use for production systems. It’s a version that usually has been released and used for awhile. It’s 1 version older than the latest released version.
    • Alpha: the most current alpha “unreleased” build version, i.e., latest testable version.
      • Operational note: This is a testing version that’s gone from beta to alpha status. It’s intended for testing purposes and typically never used for production usage.
  • Click the <Update DirectAdmin> blue button.
  • Wait until it’s entirely completed and stay active on the screen during this process.
  • Operational Note: Sometimes, a server reboot or a DirectAdmin restart is desired (or required) after this type of update.
